Typography

Our style communicates in an engaging, open and confident way. Think about the hierarchy of information together with your audience and design your layout accordingly.

We use Formatta as our main typface, across all communications material. A secondary font Garamond can be used where large areas of text need to be read. An informal Handwriting style is also used to help capture the expressive nature of communication on the island of Ireland.

Formatta

Formatta is our primary typeface. It is a clear, simple and open expression of what we say and helps to make the Tourism Ireland brand distinctive.

This family of fonts is suitable for headlines, body copy and most applications. Use contrasts of type size and colour to deliver your message in the most direct and engaging way - but try not to over do it!

Try to set Headings in upper and lower case, all caps should be used sparingly as it gives a more formal feel to communications.

When setting body copy, make sure you leave enough space between the lines of text to create a light, open feel. Keep your sentences short and to the point. They are more elegant and easier to read.

Garamond

Formata is our recognised typeface in all applications. However, to increase the readability of long sections of body text, for instance, in technical reports and lengthy legal documents, Garamond may be used.

For all other communications, for example brochures, posters, letters, etc, Formatta should be used. Garamond is available for you to use in the following weights: Light, Book, Italic and Bold.

Just Left Hand

Just Left Hand is our standard handwriting font. It offers a more natural and flowing feel to our communications, and enables us to express a more personal message in a distinct voice.

The handwriting font is suitable for headlines, quotations and hi-lighted information.

While Just Left Hand our standard handwriting font, other additional styles of handwriting can be used throughout brochures, magazine spreads, advertisements. This will help build the natural, personal feel of our communications - not everybody's handwriting looks the same!

If using additional styles always ensure that they are legible, and pleasant to read.
